THE ARTIST

PIETRO SARANDREA was born in Rome the 17th of July,1954, where he resided until 1984.

His studies include the Diploma in Surveying, but as an artist, he is entirely self-taught.

He has traveled outside Italy, researching new approaches and experiences in England (1976), in America (1980) and in Switzerland (1983).

He now lives and works in Capranica (VT).

An art critic has written: Pietro Sarandrea's art, while being basically informal, transmits vibrancy and a very special poignancy; it is, in fact, in his canvasses, especially the very large ones, that all the personality and spirituality of the artist is revealed.

In the play of intense and vivid colors we may meet our cosmic origins and feel that which the artist felt during the creation of a painting. All his works, full of magic and mysticism, regale us with emotions and intense feelings which are difficult to forget.

I believe that to call him interesting is a real understatement. One must penetrate his spirit, and so discover that Pietro Sarandrea is not just another contemporary artist, but that he is also an interpretor, and for the same reason the ambassador of an art which should be part of the collective conscience.

L'ARTISTA

PIETRO SARANDREA nasce a Roma il 17 Luglio, 1954, e vi risiede fino al 1984.

Ha conseguito il Diploma di Geometra a Roma, però come artista, lui è autodidatta.

Ha trascorso vari periodi fuori dall'Italia facendo ulteriori ricerche ed esperienze in Inghilterra (1976), in America (1980), in Svizzera (1983).

Attualmente vive e lavora a Capranica (VT).

Un critico d'arte ha scritto: L'arte di Pietro Sarandrea, anche se di stampo informale, trasmette un vibrazione ed un pathos tutto particolare; è infatti nelle tele, sopratutto in quelle di grandi dimensioni, che si snoda tutta la personalità e spiritualità dell'artista.

In quei giochi di colore caldi e vivaci possiamo riscontrare la nostra origine cosmica e percepire ciò che ha provato l'artista durante la creazione. Tutta la sua produzione, piena di magia e di misticismo, ci regala emozioni e sensazioni intense che difficilmente si dimenticano.

...Credo che definirlo interessante sia ben poca cosa. Occorre penetrarne lo spirito, per scoprire infine che Pietro Sarandrea non è fra gli artisti del nostro tempo solo una singolare presenza, ma esso è anche un interprete, e perciò stesso il legato di un arte che vuole essere conscienza collettiva.
