THE ARTIST

This artist is of Finnish descent. Riitta was trained as an Interior Designer and Photographer.

She has lived in Italy for 18 years, and in Rome she worked in the cinema and theatre.

After spending countless weekends travelling around Italy, photographing the landscapes, she found that she had an overwhelming need to paint her impressions of the Italy that had become a part of her soul.

Riitta now lives in a beautiful hilltop town in Umbria, drawing inspiration for her "Frammenti" (paintings on pieces of 100% cotton rag paper, torn into irregular shapes), of flowers and landscapes.

Riitta explains, "I have travelled over much of Europe and America, but nowhere have I seen such beauty, a beauty which fills me with gratitude and joy."

L'ARTISTA

Questa artista americana, di origine finlandese, si è formata come fotografa e disegnatrice di interni.

Vive in Italia da 18 anni dove ha lavorato per il cinema e per il teatro.

Dopo aver passato innumerevoli weekends viaggiando attraverso l'Italia e fotografandone i diversi paesaggi, ha scoperto che le impressioni che ne aveva ricavato facevano ormai parte della sua anima, producendo un debordante bisogno di dipingerle.

Riitta abita ora in un paese delle colline Umbre, traendo ispirazione per i suoi "Frammenti" (dipinti su pezzi di carta lacerati in maniera irregolare), di fiori e di paesaggi.

Riitta spiega, "Ho viaggiato molto in Europa ed in America, ma da nessuna parte avevo visto tale bellezze; una bellezza che mi riempia di gratitudine e di gioia."
